Essex2visuvesi: Awesome vette!!!! I love it!
bat44: No this isn't real California Kid. Jerry and Jason Slover, who own's the original car, helped me create what is the closest thing to the original to date. My car was chopped sitting next to the original car taking dimensions directly from it so the Bonneville style chop was recreated perfectly. The slovers provided louver placment schmatics along with a profile of the original 4" domed lovers. I CNC machbined a louver die that creatd the louvers eactly as per the orignal.
Side and top profile photos were brought into a cad program and traced so the flames and font would be exact. Full size stensils were made to keep the fire perfect. The flames on the original car are not exactly the same, from side to side. We copied the imperfection!
The suspension is the same. The motor is a 383/200 4r rather than the 350/350 of the original. And the interior is taupe leather instead of black.
Where Migel Reyes signed the original "Reyes '53" referencing the flame/pinstripping technique of Tommy the Greek as if done in 1953, we signed mine "Hudson '73" referencing the year the original was built.
I was honored to have it picked from 350 entries to be featured on the TV show "CarCrazy" at this past SEMA show in Las Vegs.
Cheers!
