Direction of engine rotation
« on: July 27, 2011, 11:15:57 am »

I am looking to buy a Zenoah for a single screw monohul. The ones im looking at are tuned and for the same spec the counter clockwise rotating engines are more expensive than the clockwise rotating ones. Does it matter which i choose for my boat? Are prop options an issue for either engine rotation?

one single screws it does not matter as long as you get the suitable prop

Buy a standard rotation - more propeller choices, no special flex required, all around easier to deal with.

A Zenoah is a racing engine, right?  From what little I know, at least here in the US, race boats run clockwise around their course.  So a prop that turns CCW as seen from aft creates prop walk (net side thrust) that helps the boat turn right.  Check with someone with race boats to confirm this.
