Aerials and the replacement thereof
« on: July 29, 2011, 03:40:51 pm »

Anyone know where I can source replacement antennas for Futaba Attack transmitters?

The kids have these and are forever bending the damm things :( or can you buy a rubber duckie type one (like the old hand held cb radios)

Perhaps you could use non telescoping aerials e.g. a length of brass rod of the same length as the telescoping aerial? Easy to replace and/or straighten out, and they could be stored in a cardboard tube if made so they can unscrew from the transmitter (recycle the threaded bush from the knackered aerials and solder on to the replacements).

A selection of 27MHz Rubber ducks here
If you are on 27Mhz these will do the job
as long as you don't want extreme range

thanks for the links chaps and the kid offer.... I would prefer to get the rubber ducks.... rangewise they dont go far so I dont think a slightly reduced range would be an issue.  I plan to upgrade them all to 2.4Ghz eventually

Wouldn't it be make economic sense just to go straight for 2.4ghz, bearing in mind their cost?

try www.giantcod.co.uk, they do 2.4ghz

i bought a radiolink transmitter (at the time for £20 - £25 including receiver) and replacement receivers are £9 so i get mine from there, good thing about them is i have 5 receivers bonded to the same transmitter

There are reviews of the most popular cheap 2.4Ghz radios on Mayhem here:

Of these, the Planet is probably the smarter looking and better finished, but the Radiolink is pretty unbeatable for price at £25 for a Tx/Rx combo. And both are available in the UK.
