Lifeboat Motors Rother
« on: August 14, 2011, 10:41:08 am »

Hi All,

New to this forum, after numerous lifeboats builds, warships etc, I have decided to build a Metcalf Rother but looking for some help with motors, I normally use Graupner speed 600 eco types, but think this might be a little over the top for a sedate rother of 8 knots! will probably use a 6v sealed gel or 7.2v nimh, are there any brushless to suit.

Any ideas and my thanks.

Rich forget brushless they will be to powerful, I would use the motors you have, but gear them down 2 to 1 much more scale speed, and you would still have a bit of top end speed for fun.

Thanks Phil,

Do you know where I can obtain some reduction units to fit the speed 600s?

DT700 on 6 volts for a brushless motor :-)) actually up to a 1000 Kv motor like the KA22-20 would be OK as well (use this on my springer Tugs)

and the 18 amp car ESC to drive it
