i mid build of my first scratch built boat and enjoying it but just want something cheap and chearful to get out with while the weathers still good

keep watching these on ebay and umm'ing and aaah'ing can be picked up for little over £30 posted and some of the advertisers videos look great



they look near identical to the old graupner jet sprint but these being a 380 motor and the graupner ones a 600 so i assume there nothing at all like each other

the other idea of course is a dickie tug ive noticed they can be had for £40 + postage and seem alot friendlier towards modifications down the line

the drive train is a copy of the graupner mini jet system , the model comes as a sealed unit so you will have to cut into the panel under the crew figures to get at the equipment , the supplied radio is to say the least very cheap in quality and without servos , but there is plenty of space to upgrade to proper equipment , with a brushless motor and lipo pack it really flies !

The boat as standard is slow and toyish, if you spend time and money converting it to brushless, it is a fast and furious and great fun......for a short time. Mine snapped a blade on the impeller for some reason, and these are impossible to replace, so you can drill everything out and put a Graupner impeller in, but to be honest, unless you're prepared to go the whole hog and rip the guts out, it's hit and miss whether you'll end up with a good one....but they are great while they last!!

i managed to get spare impellers for mine , but they arent cheap at £10 each ! im currently trying to make a replacement from brass , in order to prevent debris from entering the intake duct ive fitted a fine mesh to the bottom of my hull



my powerplant has been fitted to a scratch built 15 1/2 " dory hence the colour of the hull !

Yes, I too fitted mesh the same as you, I got mine from a tea sieve, or was it a flour sieve...one of the two. But it didn't stop the impeller from snapping a blade. I've given up on mine.......

These go link poo off a shiny shovel thats been polished to a very high sheen if you fit a brushless motor.

I bought one from a member on here (RED181 I believe) and it's mad fun, not keen on choppy water and back off the throttle in turns or it will do some spectacular rolls

The mesh mod is a must to protect the drive gear.

I have the brushless motor in the bits box if you want it as I stripped mine down as I wanted the get drive for another project

immense fun on a stream or similar, I had 3, but my two boys just could handle them, kept flipping them over, so we sold up and bought club 500's instead.

There is a massive thread on either rcgroups, or rcuniverse with all the mods documented, cant remember which. The stock electrics are rubbish, straight in the bin, and the stator guard is a must, however I still broke an impeller, and at the time you could not get a replacement,so a friend made me a brass one. Only problem I had was lubricating, and water sealing the shaft, but I believe there is now a bearing mod to sort this. I ran them with lipos, and brushless. Have a look on youtube, there are some real good videos
