I have a 28" (700mm in new money) Vietnamese Aquarama that I plan to RC over the winter.

It's quite heavy (1.2KG) but it sits quite high in the water.  Initial tests allowed me to add another 2 kilos to bring it to the waterline.

I plan to use 2 motors and 2 speed controllers with twin rudders.  Watercooling is a given.

The motors will be mixed using my transmitter to reduce power to one motor while turning or using an action mixer

Batteries will be 2x 11.4V 25c 2800Mah lipos

Space wise I only have room for a pair of 400 size motors once cooling coils are fitted so im looking at 28mm brushless motors

Again any sugestions would be good



What motor and ESC combination would people reccomend?

Im not looking for out and out speed just something that will give a scale speed plus a little more

28 mm motor and those small props, you will need about a 1000-1200 Kv motor.

the Quick Car ESC from Hobby King has worked well for me.

Well I have ordered the motors and speed controllers.

next on the list, rudders, props, prop shafts, couplings and associated hardware.  Im looking forward to this

I have its smaller brother (20.5" - 520mm) and intend to convert similar to what you are doing.

That looks pretty much the same as my one.

The hardest part I think will be fitting the rudders, linkages etc as the only access to the back is via the motor cover.

This is what I am working on,

Its a Riva Corsero

about 1000 mm long, running a single 500 Kv motor on 6 cell lipo, Made a new skeg to suit the 50 mm cleaver I'm using.

So yours is only a single prop?

Yes only single prop, the Aquarama was the only Riva to have dual engines AFAIK.
