« on: October 12, 2011, 07:00:10 pm »

Hello fellow boaters  :D wel thats the nice stuff out of the way now to the nitty gritty part I am at present building a submarine that has a 5 bladed prop that is 5 3/4 " in diameter

now my original choice was to fit a 900 motor but have not used 1 before and I am wondering if it will be up to the job? to those of you who have 900 experience if not any suggestion as what to use

A 900 on 2 or 3 to 1 gearbox will be perfect. I'd gofor 3:1 personally.

Andy :-)

Andy,
If I remember correctly the MMB 900 runs at about 5000 rpm on 12 volts so obviously a 2:1 reduction will give 2500 rpm or a 3:1 will give 1666.66rec revs.

6500 Bob, but close enough ;)

 I reckon it'd be perfect on a 3:1 pulley system :-)

Andy.

I don't fancy a pulley system toothed belt on the other hand
