googled tissue paper...got this
http://www.midpac.co.uk/tissue-paper/standard-tissue-paper

£9.50 per ream...and that's 500 sheets, cheap enough for you?

If you're only after a couple of sheets, know any fancy clothes shops - they use it for packing purchases.

Well as an old-time aero-modeller I can tell you that all tissue paper is NOT suitable for covering balsa (or open airframes). It should shirnk evenly when sprayed with a light mist of plain tap water. Then a couple of coats of cellulose dope to complete the shrinking and airproof the tissue.  Waterproofing needs more coats coats and usually with non shrinking dope (Banana Oil ) or in case of hulls a normal oil based varnish. The very best strength to weight ratio was/is "Jap Tissue", not surprisingly. A free- model supplier would have stocks of various grade and weights of good tissue. Not cheap but quality seldom is. There are some synthetic tissues which I dont think are suitable for marine modelling unless used with fibreglass resin.  For heavy duty use try the brown wrapping paper method.  No smelly dopes and any cheap wrapping paper seems to work, waterproof wood-glue dries to a shiny eggshell-like finish and can be painted with oil or cellulose paints. Try Mike Woodhouse at www.freeflightsupplies.co.uk

thanks Arrow5

i have built many a KielKraft Ajax and Achilies myself...   ( young-uns will have to google that one :-)) )
i am aware of the shrinking attributes of differnt tissues and dopes. but here i am all those years later trying something new..

i want the tissue for covering, reinforcing, and waterproofing models made of Depron foam board.. a relatively new material to us model makers

no shrinkage required, and the tissue will be applied using water based polyurethane matt varnish, it can also be applied using epoxy laminating resin as used in glass-clothing

thats the beauty of our wonderfull hobby..  there is always some new material or technique to learn and master :-))

Depron "foam board", do you mean card covered foam board or sheet Depron as used on indoor and shockies?  Try using Jonson`s "Kleer" floor glazing liquid (it isnt a wax).  Goes on like water and dries to a fairly hard surface suitable for coating with paint or resin. Never built an Ajax or Achiles , started with an Eaglet then a Chief, 60 years later still aeromudelling  {-)

regular depron for foamies and shockies,  got a few projects on the go for over the winter that will be using the tissue over depron..  airboats and flying boats to name two :-))

i think the Jonsons Kleer is a waterbased polyurethane... i will check it out, thanks for the heads up on that
