Glad to hear that I am not the only one that has this problem,
I thought that it was something that I was doing wrong.
All that I was trying to do was send a PM.

I am also geeting time out ,message and also a message to try posting again and as stated you then lose all the text/stuff.

Thought it was the joys of being a single finger typist.

Just did it now here is the message.

Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.

On another forum someone suggested to me that if you have a very long post you should open up a blank windows document
put in your text and add your photos then paste it all to the forum - don't know that it would work on this forum as I never have
problems on here, but it does work elsewhere.

I sometimes write a post in MS word and save it, I can then post it on the forum later, it does work and saves all the frustration of losing your writings if something does go wrong…

Yes, it does work here and is a good idea if you want to write more than a couple of brief paragraphs. You also catch more typos that way which saves having to make corrections.

If you can recall, I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago....and got some interesting answers.
But I've found out that it isn't really a glitch. It just takes a few minutes to sort itself out.
I had this "problem" every time I tried to send a posting when doing the Gold Ranger thing...but then I realised that if I just carried on preparing the next post, Lo and Behold----the original post was there. As someone said to me, the "Gateway" is exactly that. If too many people are trying to get through the "gate" (I presume that's the "server") then the gate will just put everyone into a queue. A bit like going "clubbing" with bouncers at the door. Not that I'd know anything about that, you understand. Yours etc. Sr.Berlosconi.

It's also just happened to me tonight. I was timed out, and when I retried, low and behold there were two posts.

I've been busy clearing the duplicated posts for some of you, so your posts should look all right now.

We'll wait and see what Martin comes up with.

Only works if you don't include images, then the "word" is too big to post.
Been there done that.

Which was the reason behind my recent post on how to post multiple images with captions in a single post from your PC.

Upshot, appears can't be done, without using on line image host, which I do not want to do.

Yup..you could be right, I've only added images after pasting the text into the reply box...Ok you got me there...!!! :D

I've had the timeout a few times...dunno what the answer is?

I knew it...its the injuns again!

I'm on Firefox 8.0 now, its a recent update, I might be wrong but I've a feeling the timeout trouble has only been happening since the update....I run Norton net security and I've lost some of the functions I had before the Firefox update...computers eh...!!!! %%

Ah yes, Nginx don't like running alongside Apache... Appears that to run both alongside you need to assign Apache to release seperate IP addresses to Nginx to stop them conflicting. Failing that, get a bigger hammer.

Hmmm! as I said computers eh?...!!! I have a netbook running XP and IE and a laptop which is on Win 7 and my desktop also on Win 7...they are all using Norton security???... (I have a 3 PC Norton disc) makes no sense to me and I can't help feeling its something to do with the servers..(gateway timeout?)... at the moment mayhem is behaving itself and I haven't seen the timeout lately...? I have to say its not really a problem just an irritation O0

between 8am and 10am in the mornings has been a waist of time recently as i just get the 540 gateway message, I try several other sites with no problems I am using Windows 7 with IE8 with 50meg internet that is showing at the time 49 meg to 51 meg. with a fast PC so I don't think it is this end.

Have noticed, every time I use the spell checker, that when I then go to post it has timed out.
Could there may be some relationship to the spell checking function. ?

Hi Martin
Is this why when I try to load some pages it takes forever then times out ?
it has been going on since the summer.

The server people say they 'they can't reproduce the problem', (surprise, surprise!)

... so if anyone can reproduce the error, post here how.  :-))

I'm not having problems posting but then don't post much. I am having time out issues just getting onto the forum to start with. This happens both with my laptop running Vista and Firefox, and also the network at the office where I use IE.
