Yes, this German search and rescue style boat was a US Pilot boat for years on the Columbia river at Astoria.  She's the Peacock  :-))

Sputnik is very good but it isn't a ships name (not for mine anyway)

Cayman islands is the wrong group, and you'll need to begin the journey in the north east because it's a few fair
miles to your destination

A Spinningdale class trawler?  Known as "Sputnicks"  It obviously somewhere a lot warmer then her home waters if it is.

The Spinningdale class was built by John Lewis shipyard in Aberdeen Scotland. Davie Tait has an interesting

I believe the (at least my) Sputniks were built in the North East of England by the builder I named earlier. ;)

Ooh and I do love this bit - she actually is in her home waters O0

Yes Perkina, 1965 out of Berwick by Fairmile, builder of the Fair isle class (or Sputniks). Perkina was
the last one (a modified version) built for the Tongan government.

I am still trying to find out what happened to Perkina - maybe she's still afloat under another name?

I never said it was my friend - The Perkina's Journey began in the NE of England at Berwick.
I just got interested in her and then it was very hard to find any info so she stuck in my mind.

I confirm !  I made a stop there on a travel between New Caledonia and Tahiti . I don't remember the name of the town (not easy one) but I still have the plate received from the Tongian Navy ship who was in charge of us.



By the way, I've never sailed the Carribean sea

The mystery ship is a nice looking fishing boat as travel home  :-))

Apparently she's still active under name Pakimoeto'I.

O.K.  My turn.  This vessel underwent a radical re-fit and also changed her name.  What's her name and what did she become.

Wolverine - a side-wheel excursion steamer built in 1913 - was originally named Seeandbee, a name based upon her owners' company name, the Cleveland and Buffalo Transit Co.[5] She was constructed by the American Ship Building Company of Wyandotte, Michigan. The Navy acquired the sidewheeler on 12 March 1942 and designated her an unclassified miscellaneous auxiliary, IX-64. She was purchased by the Navy in March 1942 and conversion to a training aircraft carrier began on May 6, 1942.[6] The name Wolverine was approved on August 2, 1942 with the ship being commissioned on August 12, 1942.[6][7] Intended to operate on Lake Michigan, IX-64 received its name because the state of Michigan is known as the Wolverine State.
