Hi JB
You should PM Hermill (forum member) he is a bit of an expert in this area.
He can't be viewing at the moment.

I have seen his, they are good quality. He has also done some upgrading and knows his track.

I have the Tiger and my brother has the Pershing.  Both very nice.  They are not truly proportional but rather electronically "stepped".  You can just about creep along nice and slow if you've got good fingers on the sticks.  The quality is very nice for the money.  They don't really stand up to comparison with the Tamiya offerings but for a fraction of the cost the HL's  can't be beat.  In the US the best place to orderfrom is MATO Toys as they inspect and test each one before shipping.  QC used to be an issue with HL last year but I'm not sure that's improved.  The Airsoft mechanism looses a bit of zip over time but I sort of lost interest in the gun after a while so no matter.  I also removed the smoke system as I never used it.  I'll install it in a boat or something.

Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

What does the "smoke system" in a HL tank consist of?

Martin.

I think they're great value. I have the Panther and the Snow Leopard and love them. I painted the Leopard, but the Panther is as she came out of the box except for the stickers, guns and driver etc. Pretty neat I reckon. They're tough too. I drove mine right off the table (Leopard) and it landed on it's feet like a good cat. The road wheels all have independant coil spring suspension, so no damage done. I get about half an hour running on the NICAD. I put a Lipoly in the Leopard and am yet to run it down so I don't know how long it'll go for. Here's a gif  of the Leo and a pic of the Panther.

Martin,
I'm sorry that I haven't responded.  I missed your question.  The smoke unit is a small internal device to which you add a few drops of the supplied smoke oil through the exhaust pipe.  It has a switch of its own.  I rarely used it so I removed it for another project.
