Online battleship game
« on: March 12, 2012, 08:18:38 am »

Not sure if this belongs here or in Chit Chat but wargaming.net are releasing some new games in the near future

This one seems particulary interesting
http://www.worldofbattleships.com/
Not much info yet but if its anything like their world of tanks online game then it should be a lot of fun

I play this one at the moment and its good fun :)

They also have an aircraft one

Currently in alpha testing

Really wanted to play the tank 1 and the battleship game sounds good too, but when I emailed them about a mac version they said there isn't 1 and they don't intend on making 1 :(

I guess you're not running bootcamp on your mac then?

Son is playing it happily on a mac via bootcamp

No, I've not got the HD space to be partitioning part of it for windows, tried using an emulator but didn't have a certain bit of OSX that it needed to work. I keep suggesting to my dad he should buy me a new MacBook Pro but he doesn't seem to think it's such a good idea...   Lol

yes it is  >>:-(
But then again it is free to download and play

Anyone thinking of downloading and starting playing world of tanks. Hold on for a week or 2 as there is a big update due for release which will probably be another couple o'gigs of download.  Better off to wait for the 7.2 client to be released

Plenty of ways to free up disk space, you could put all your photos on an external hard drive or a usb flash drive,
loads of advice on this subject on the net.

i have world of tanks :)
its a great game
i could ramble on for a while
but the videos on this page will explain it better
http://worldoftanks.eu/game/guide/en/general/tutorials

world of battleships and world or warplanes will be much the same game ( but with battleships and aircraft respectively )

while were on the subject of computer games
has anyone ever played battlestations ???
this was an awesome game that allowed you to control a large variety of ships ( from ultra fast torpedo boats, the mighty yamato and Iowa themselfs )
even submaries were avalible to play in certain missions, and aircraft as well
you get a feel for JUST how slow battleships are in relation to the quick and nimble aircraft

We used to Play Navyfield.
When it was a BETA, and through the first few versions it was fun, because
you could tell that the people playing knew naval tactics. They new the value
of scouting, and how to incorporate bombers and fighter cover.
I stopped playing when it became a game of rushing forward with the biggest ship and guns possible.

World of tanks has been interesting because the small fast tanks could scout, the big tanks could
push forward, and the artillery could smack targets of opportunity. It will be intersting to see how
they put the naval battles together.
