Ok if it is your choice. I have had to change email address a number of times over the years because the volume of spam became ridiculous & it is a real pain. It is headed that way again at the moment.
I use multiple addresses for different purposes. My work addresses carry work data. My personal addresses are used by friends and family. I have 'commercial' addresses which I use for buying things, paying the gas bill, etc, and I have specialist hotmail addresses for things like my EeZeBilt and Taycol sites. I also run 'throwaway' addresses for rather more dodgy applications where I would expect them to be spammed. It makes life easy because I can concentrate on one set of work at a time....
Your ISP will almost certainly provide you with several addresses if you want to set them up. If nothing else, I would recommend keeping your personal life and work life separate from your commercial transactions. Commercial transactions are usually the ones which end up being spammed...
If you need a simple throwaway address - use The Mailinator.
http://mailinator.com/ This provides a throwaway email address valid for a day. To use it, just make up a name, for example 'fred'. Then send an email to
[email protected]. That email address will automatically be created and run for several hours, and if you go to Mailinator you can read and reply to the mail. It will then all be deleted automatically....
