Anyone Short of Boats to Build? FREE KITS!
« on: June 07, 2012, 12:01:32 pm »

I have 2 Viking Longships (Roar Ege and Osberg) sitting here that I'll never get round to building.
Tried offering them for sale on here and no one was interested.
So now I am offering the on here for free. Just share the shipping cost with me (Be about a £10GBP each)

BUT

Now here's the kicker...
Whoever takes them off me MUST document the build on here with a fully detailed log

The offer is only open to regular visitors to the site and I reserve the right to refuse if I feel the terms will not be adhered to

Drop me a PM if you are interested

This may be why.......................................Whoever takes them off me MUST document the build on here with a fully detailed log

as some, me included, may not feel confident/capable of documenting the build.

I remember building one of these many moons ago and I do remember that I cried a lot.   .....  I then gave up model building for some time due to a nasty twitch every time I went near a piece of wood.....  :}  I would really recommend one of these kits as a great gift for someone you really dislike  O0.......

Why?

No one is expecting Shakespear ( a touch of humor doesn't go amiss! ).
All a 'Mayhem build' needs to be is step by step photos and a few words explaing what going on in the photo and why/

Have a look at one of my early builds:

If I can post a build thread, anyone can %)

Only thing I found hard getting used to was actually remembering to take the pictures....

Andy,

Well, no, not anyone can,  <*< as we all have varying degrees of expertise, such as model building, computer skills, photography, spelling, etc etc etc. O0

What has put me off is not being able to put the commentary with the photos. Had asked this question previously but wasn't not resolved. <:( <:(

Am now able to upload a photo after a comment but have no success in putting up multiple photos with commentary below so gave up. :(( :((

No doubt there are others like me out, so I gave up and follow threads make the odd? comment, glean information, clues, ideas, etc  :-)) :-))

{-) look at my avatar {-) you would think they were made for me {-)
All that put me off is I am so slow at making progress and feel it would be unfair to someone ready now to start to build them
I am nearly done with an old Hales Spraymaster reconfigure/refurb (failing repeatedly on making a windshield frame is driving me nuts)
I have an Xbow hull for a Bourbon build I've only just started to pull together.

I suppose I could spend less time on Mayhem .......... but who would Ken moderate then? {-) {-) {-) Only kidding Ken, honestly I am. O0

You can log it in any way you like. pictures and text.
Just give a rundown of whats in the picture and how you did it, what tools were used, any problems you come accross etc etc.

Looks like it could be made to sail I could do a build thread but it would be a slow one as I work away from home and only get weekend evenings to build so if no one else fancys it I will give it a go suppose radio could be hidden with some barrels

the osberg is bigger but I think both would require a keel weight of some sort.  I did do a search for RC installations on both boats but didn't find much

The offer is still open if anyone wants them

I saw a thread on here the other day about someone looking for raffle prizes so If the person posting would get in touch I am happy to offer the Osberg as a prize
