Hi Rich, my son works as a ski instructor in Germany and sometimes has to drive one of the Kassbohrer PistenBully s to groom a piste ( yeah he`s always on the piste !
) All of the Scottish ski areas have pisters if you want to see the real thing in action or even organise a competition for R/C models on snow. Youtube has a mass of clips of the models (and full size) Search for "International RC Snow cat Winter Meeting" and www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSRrkIKCHGw Hope your health improves and you get the op soon. Of course you will need a holiday in the Alps after you get out ...now where is the Kassbohrer factory again
?????
They are fascinating things to see in action...thanks for the links, Mr Arrow sir. I haven't been to Scotland in years, used to be a regular visitor to Aberdeen back in my working days, maybe I could find me a nice nurse to accompany me on a trip up that way....

Hi Rich (not any longer am I...)
no you get shorter with age mate.
How about this - I have developed a real liking for dioramas. I really think a lot of skill is needed to get them just right. How about a trying a small scale scene with a sub and surface vessel? Plenty there to occupy you - little weight or cost either.......... nothing sub standard though
Dave
I do confess to once starting a diorama of the now long gone Cuckoo Line which used to run right outside my front door, Dave...the idea was to have a series on mini dioramas inside a diorama (does that make sense), but it never really got off the ground due to the lure of the submarines being too strong.
My main problem (apart from my health problems) is a lack of space...I live in a small one bedroom flat, with the bedroom doubling up as a modelling room, and the lounge is more or less full of 'lounge type' stuff...sofa, chair, TV, the AMS Mission Control (pc desk, laptop and a desktop pc, scanner/printer thing, etc) there's precious little room for much more. Oh, and the Dragonfish and the Neptune take up a fair bit of space as well.
But, there maybe a light at the end of the tunnel...now I'm registered as disabled, I've put in an application for a disabled bungalow...they have a small garden AND...a shed! I still know a few people on the council, including one in the housing section...I've just found his string, so I'll be gently tugging on it when my application lands on his desk.
Thanks for all the replies chaps, they are much appreciated, I assure you.
Rich(aka short and poor bloke)
