Between leaving school and joinibg the RN I was a mammogram boy for the post office .I even had a BSA
Bantam to deliver them on

I have a land line phone in my house & a land line phone @ work, It generally takes me 10 to 15 minutes to drive to work. If I cant drive that short distance without having to answer a phone on the way I believe something is seriously wrong with the way my life is organised. Cell phone, I am not in jail so don't need one. Facebook, sometimes I wind up with a book in my face when I fall asleep reading. Twitter, unfortunately all the birds around here go south for the winter because of the cold, so we only hear them twitter in the Summer. How many hand written letters did you send me before email, I thought so, now what has become so important that you need to write to me 2 times a day ?.Most of this is tongue in cheek & is not meant to upset those that do email, but we have become obsessed with junk technology like our very lives depended on it & need to take a real hard look @ the way we use it. There seems to be little room left for the use of sober second thought. Mick B.

In the days when I was "forced" to have a mobile, employer supplied, I always turned it off after work, about 1700hrs.

Lost count, the number of times I was asked, why I hadn't answered my mobile, after being told they rang after 1700hrs.

My response was, that is correct it always switched off as I had ceased work for the day. 

Don't have a mobile  now and life is peaceful and quiet,  nor do I return calls to mobiles, land lines yes, mobiles, at extra cost never.

As for facebook , sorry, never ever.

I have a works mobile and I work nights - but I often just forget to turn it off.
Work will then ring me at any time from 08:00 ................ they know I am in bed
