HELP PLEASE TO IDENTIFY THIS STEAMER
« on: August 13, 2012, 12:00:49 pm »

I recently acquired this steamer, can anyone please identify, I was told it was a Coaster, but I think its more likely to be a drifter but it does not have a counter stern I was told that only 4 hulls were produced, it is a very good quality moulding, I have searched many web sites to find something that resembles this model without success. I am beginning to wonder if it's a bitser.

The hull is fibreglass, 53” long and 14” beam, the scale appears to be 1/24 although the wheelhouse is far to small.
The engine is a Edgar Westbury design with a Cheddar Boiler with piezo ignition and a boiler pump, after overhaul runs very well. It has a current boiler certificate

I would like to alter to resemble a known steamer but cannot alter the position of the engine, boiler & funnel.

Definitely a bitsa
Look at the hatch near the boat and the foghorn/signal horn on the wheelhouse roof. Steadying/mizzen sail and two hatch covers?
With that plant it could turn out to be a gud un with an upper
deck rebuild.

a brainchild of someone's imagination, with a bit of coaster and drifter all mishmashed together.

The fibre glass hull has been altered with a counter stern & the freeboard raised 1/2” LOA 56” beam 22” draught 4.5 inches, deck planked in oak.

The forward hatch has been shortened to fit water tank, gas tank & electrics.
