Hi again guys,

So the bug has bitten me and I have bought more boat stuff



Its a 50 (ish) inch fibre glass hull with a motor, prop and rudder.  I think it's a Precedent Hanseat frmo the 70s but could be wrong here.



What I was wondering is, as I don't know the exact spec of the motor how would I go about choosing a speed controller and battery for it?

Also is there somewhere I can buy premade/ready cut superstructure?  I don't mind if it doesn't look original, just as long as it doesn't look out of place.

I do like the twisted wires around the motor connections.        A bit 1950's there.

It does look like a bit of work for you ahead.  I should imagine it's a total build from the start of a bare hull.  Your going to need the following

Motor
Speed controller
Battery
Prop coupling
New brass propeller
Rudder
Tiller arm
Servo for tiller
Radio
Receiver
Plastic card
Plastic weld
Super glue
Wires and fuses
Paint
Time on your hands
Maybe a bit of wood.
Drawings of similar ship
Funnel
lifeboats
Guns !
Rope
Brass railings
lifebelts
Air vents
The thing you forgot to budget for.

Believe me, it will be enjoyable, once the money has left the Bank.

            Kenny as put in nut shell ,   lot of work a head , browse through  model boats plan book , and see if you come up with profile that matches your hull lines ,
 there might be a  tug in there or fishing boat .  by the way what is your first name ...........better to start with than the cryptic one ...cheers Larry......

Hi Larry.

Still as busy as ever. I'm thinking of continuing my build of the Fairmile D and the list above frightened me as I don't have the running gear yet. It certainly adds up when you calculate it in advance.  It's far better to go along slowly and then it doesn't seem so bad.   

Anyone fancy putting prices against my list above.  That could lead to an interesting debate and bargain hunt.

That hull picture reminds me of my first attempt at boat building earlier this year.. I started with a red fibre glass hull from ebay



I set out to build a large scale fishing boat from it, much to the amusement of some that saw my intentions...  After spending hours trawling the net looking for likely candidates I decided to loosely base the model on a "Westral"

I bookmarked as many pictures of the original from different angles and set to work with plywood and plasticard.



At this point a few people said the motors were to small but they are the same as in an Aziz tug model which has a similar size hull and weight.

After a few weeks of chopping plastic this is how she looks on the water and she handles a treat.
