Throttle operating wrong way round Planet T5
« on: September 06, 2012, 03:45:54 pm »

Just got a  model which  required me to reverse the  wee switches on the TX for rudders to operate the right way
but I'm unable to do the same for throttle ie forward stick reverses and  vice versa.

Would this likely be the TX at fault?    as can not  get another to test .
If not could I just reverse the power supply somewhere
ie before or after the ESC's

If the latter is practical  will post the layout for any advise

Thanks

The easiest way is just to change over the leads on the motor .

No, just desolder the wires on the motor itself (2 of them) and solder them back on the other way round.
DO NOT attempt to change any other wires on the speed controller as you probably blow it up!

Or surely there is a connector in the wires between the esc and motor? Just un plug the connector and plug the wires in the opposite way, no need for any resoldering.

on the front of your tx theres a small smoke coloured panel , behind the panel is a bank of FIVE small slide switches  , the first four are reverse switches for the four stick operated chanels , the fith one changes the chanel five from slow to fast operation ! jon

Yes, swapping over the output from the speed controllers, where indicated, will have the desired effect of changing the rotation of the motors.

between changing the reverse switch and it actually working you may have to switch off the tx for it to reset itself

Modern ESCs that consist mostly of a PIC are designed to always expect the N/R switch in the Normal position.  Trying to set them up any other way is usually a recipe for confusion, both for the ESC and the person using it.  If a motor spins the wrong way, reverse its connections.

Now you are confusing me what is the difference  between reversing the cables at the connector as opposed to on the Actual Motor ?

on the planet T5 to change the throttle direction you have to Turn off the Rx and the Tx switch the channel switch over in the panel then switch on the Tx followed by the Rx.
The direction should have changed.

Bang on the button. You have to turn off the TX /RX, them change the switch over then turn on the TX & then RX and all will be changed over.

Thank you Sir I couold not see why two wires that had regular changes of polarity were at risk frombeing  changed over

No difference whatsoever, except that the screw terminals are easier than unsoldering and resoldering at the motor tags.  Doing it from the switch at the transmitter is great for reversing a servo, very much less so for the ESC.
