Hi all in the model world.
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:18:02 pm »

Hello everyone,i hope everyone is ok? anyways i am going to get straight to the point here.i know when you are trying to sell something on here you first have to make 25 posts, but in my case i cannot see me making 25 posts,so i can only try and do this, this way

 The Rules.

1. Users who wish to sell items on here must be boat related and must be a Full Mayhemer, ie. 25 contributory posts on Mayhem.

2. Adverts MUST have photos of the models or items for sale, not just an internet link to another site.
( Photos required at time of posting - sales without photos may be deleted. )

3. Ebay listings are not to be duplicated here without prior consent of a moderator.

4. All items must have a price.

5. All Adverts shall have a maximum of 6 month duration, after which the adverts will be deleted.

6. If offering an item for swap, state a value of the item and what you are seeking.
ALL negotiations must take place outside this Sales thread, (PM's are OK).

7.  Please indicate your location, this can be done by updating your Forum Profile.
    ( See:  www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1448.msg145987#msg145987 )

8.  No "Bumping." ( Please see: http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=23522.msg231363#msg231363  )

9. No interfering or undermining of anyone's Sale.
( If you have an issue, take it up with the seller by PM or notify a moderator - NOT on the open forum! )

Hi Blackcat,

Sorry yes, 25 contributory posts minimum.

( We've had "issues" in the past with members only joining to sell stuff on here in an attempt to circumvent Ebay fees! )

nice to meet you aswell neil. {:-{

I was just telling Neil that your original post had been modified before he read it. Martin had removed the description of your model for sale
so the post looked strange.
25 posts aint a lot, just keep replying to the posts
and you will soon be there :-))

By clumsy I mean that you (as martin said) had no real interest in adding to the forum which we all like to do, but just to sell your model......you stated that you couldn't be bothered adding those 25 posts, and had no real intention of introducing yourself to fellow members and telling us what you are interested in.
I am not known for my tact but if someone needs help I will go out of my way to help them.

having said that, from your comment  "nice to meet you aswell neil."......you haven't actually met me  and if you had, you would have known what I am actually like..........a very helpful chap who doesn't suffer fools or chancers well.

If you want to contribute to the forum, then welcome,......if you just want to sell a model because you ain't interested in it....try Ebay or Gumtree.

Neil,
I fully agree with what you have stated. The comment "nice to meet you Neil" was an indication of the attitude this new "member" already has.We all perhaps want to sell some of our unwanted models,so the simple rule of a minimum 25 posts is very reasonable and acceptable.the Member has already made some posting toward the target, although I feel that we could do without that type of remark.
Look forward to seeing your model on E bay,Blackcat

i seem to think i have upset a few members with my first post and it seems i have now got an attitude, this is not the case at all,i can believe you are a nice person neil and would go out of your way to help other,s,well i am just the same.my first post might have come across all wrong to some members, but it was more a case of i just need to sell the ship to a serious model maker and someone who would get great pleasure out of making it and it seems a waste it just sat here, i might of got off to a bad start on here and all i can do is apologise if i have upset anyone although i don,t know why i am apologising as i don,t see what i did wrong apart from not making the 25 posts before i could sell something and now i am being made out to have an attitude problem. :(( when i have,nt at all.

also for the attention of Mick F. talk about my attitude, please tell me your comment about looking forward to seeing my model on Ebay?? was not you being funny?? it seems that way to me and i wonder if anyone will back me up on that like you have just backed neil up.

this is all a bit silly in my opinion and there is no need for you both to be getting on to me.i messed up maybe but as a new member i think a bit of support would have gone a long way instead of making me feel like i am not welcome here now.so thanks for that.can you both seriously say you have made me feel like i want to stay and become a regular member?? and i pity any more new members who mess up if this is what there going to get. i will reach the 25 posts and who knows by then i might begin to enjoy myself here and hopefully become a regular member and hopefully someone will want to buy my ship.i hope so.

take care everyone.

Looks like you're well on your way to 25 posts! Nothing like a flame war for building up posts quickly...

I think the only point people were trying to make was that the primary aim of this forum is to discuss model boats, and not primarily to sell them. Yes, we are interested in buying model boats occasionally. But if someone ONLY wants to sell items, then the forum's view is that there are other places which specialise in that service, and Mayhem does not want to move towards being a 'model boat ebay'.

I hope I've stated the reason for the policy adequately - I would welcome input from a moderator or Martin if I haven't... It seems to me that this is a policy which could do with occasional airing and discussion, because it might be quite convenient to have a section of the forum set aside for a more commercial operation. But equally I can see that there might be extra moderation, control and legal issues involved...

Blackcat, now you are really getting toward the goalpost of 25! We on here are not all a bunch of fiery people (even though my name is rottweiler!) so hopefully oil has now been poured on troubled waters and you will get your chance of a sale.Hopefully you may have some further input on modelling also. On with the show!
Cheers,

neil.

i am with you 100% neil and i am all up for forgiving and forgetting, i just hope we can get a long now as my aim was not to come on here and cause friction cus i am not like that. thanks also for the good luck in selling the ship, but in a private message i have received it won,t be on here i will sell it,as i have been told it will not be allowed to go in the for sale section cus off my actions apparently?? which i got also asked i hope i understand?? to which i don,t,but thats that i suppose, and in a way makes me feel like i really did mess up with my first post.

and i am with you neil with everything being hunky dory. i,ll even give you a kiss x  %% %%

hello dodgy geezer and your so right it does look like i am well on my way to the 25 posts but in all the wrong ways and in a war and not the normal way i suppose. i totally understand also what your saying about the selling side of things on here and i did go round it the wrong way, and now know this, sorry to the forum for just taking it upon myself to change the way things work on here, but it was not intended to rock the boat,i just needed to sell the ship and to someone who really would have wanted it and thought this was the way to go. you explained it very well also dodgy and if i have started a whole new topic where discussion on the topic of selling is concerned then i am really sorry as i never intended to do so. thanks dodgy anyways.take care

cheers

despite this being a model boat forum you will find threads of all interests and subjects going on. The admins here are usually very reasonable and will probably waver the ban of posting your for sale item, after 25 posts of course. You not being able to sell here not only spites you but spites us other members as potential interested buyers.

Ill probably receive some disciplinary action now for speaking my mind :-X

Hello mad mike, you ok? thanks for your input into this matter and i seriously hope you don,t get into trouble for speaking your mind on the matter. but i totally understand what you are saying, because of the way i did things has got me banned from selling the ship and has also stopped someone or a few members on here who might have really wanted to buy it. so maybe just maybe i will get the ban lifted and hopefully some one on here will end up with a lovely ship, cus its not rite it just sat here doing nothing when someone could get a lot of pleasure out of it. sorry if anyone suffers for my actions again. take care mike and thanks again i feel like i am not on my own on here anymore which is a  good thing.

your message might have been from an over zealous moderator. maybe the big cheese (martin) might over rule it when you reach the magic 25. good luck whatever the outcome. and even if you dont post in the future, keep the site in mind. it really is a minefield of information.
