Low Tack Glue-Rivot Heads
« on: October 12, 2012, 04:03:58 pm »

I need to temporarily stick down a thin strip of plastic. I used to be able to get a Photo Mount Adhesive-Low Tack. This would just peel of when required. Cant seem to find it now, any ideas any one?
The plastic will have holes drilled in it at set intervals, held down with the low tack, then wood glue painted over. When nearly dry, removed. Theoretically, instant rivet heads.

cheers

Assuming that you are referring to the aerosol type, have you tried 'Staples'? - They carry several 3M products.

Also, if you do a 'net search, the stuff is also sometimes called 'Artist Mount', and can be found in most Art and/or Craft shops

I've been using "Crafters" Stick & Spray. (desiigned for photo mounting). I bought it originally to stick down plans on 1/16" ply. It worked very well, and when the paper needed to be removed, a light dampening of the paper was enough to remove it. Given that success, I thought I'd give it a swing on sticking thin ply sheet together. It worked too well. Not at all water resistant but stronger than it first seemed to be. And at £6 for a 250ml aerosol, not exactly cheap.
Have you considered "Copydex"...that's pretty low-tack? BY.
