liverpool class at Glasson Dock
« on: October 19, 2012, 04:26:14 pm »

NHP and myself went to Glasson Dock this morning to see the Liverpool Class Lifeboat That is there at the moment. She looks in a sorry state, but she is still afloat, and sitting nicely in the water,so must be watertight.
A couple of photos......

It's just been bought by a guy ( who goes by the name on Ships nostalgia) called Glassonbury, and I believe he's restored two lifeboats before.....making a beautiful job of them it seems................this is his next project.............it's amazing how many original fittings are still on the boat.......

I'll be keeping a close watch of this one as it's so close to where I live.

Well, if he does as good a job as they're doing on the George Elmy and the Robert Lindsay, then he can be very proud.

Does anyone know who she is?

Quote
it's the "Elliot Gill"

It would've been pretty much identical to Grace Darling then... They would have been in the yard at the same time.

Pic of William Cantrell Ashley at Albert Dock I took last month, was lucky enough to have a look on board too.
