Airfix 1/72 E-Boat with R/C
« on: November 11, 2012, 02:27:55 pm »

A couple of pics of my old 1/72 Airfix E-boat/ S-Boot with R/C. The yellow one is the donor boat... ok2 . I have no rudders, but I have full forward and reverse on my engines. It is a really good setup in fact, it just tend to lean a little bit outwards while manouvering in high speed. Propellers are a little bit oversized, but it is a runner not a shelfqueen! And with a total cost of 35-40 euros it is a great deal of fun for little money. Right now it is in a "try out suit", but my goal is to have it manned by Hellers crew in may next year, and start to threaten the large convoys that sail in my pond! :-))

Thnx! I havenīt had any probs with range, Iīve run it at 15-20 meters distance, and no failure occured. Since the boat is so small, it tend to disappear on further distance. ( At least for my weary eyes  8) )  And yes, the control looks cheap and very toyish, but when the cost is less than a night on the pub, I can cope with it  ok2
I drilled a small hole at the back of the bridge, just where the mast in the kit will be fixed, I cut the antenna just about the length of kit mast, and I think it will vanish from a couple of feet away.
Have you seen the smallest of small toyboats, the ones that you charge from your control? Iīm thinking of motorizing the Airfix 1/72 LCM, the one with the Sherman tank aboard, or maybe a 1/35 Schwimmwagen. That would be really cool!
