For the member that wanted them, here are some photos of the model of the Dungeness Lifeboat, 'Mabel E. Holland' that we have up at Chatham. Sorry for the rather poor quality, it's in a big glass case, so I wasn't using a flash, and I didn't have a tripod with me.
As far as we know this model was made by a friend of Ben and Doris Tart, and was sailed in the sea off Dungeness quite often.
Cheers
Lance

Hi all,
Thanks for doing that for me Lance - will help me to interpret the RNLI drawings.
Back in 1977 my next door neighbour was a friend of the Tarts and he told me when the Alice Upjohn was coming on station so I made sure I was there. The Mabel E Holland was launched to meet and exercise with it just off shore. Not often you see two lifeboats from the same station afloat together.

My family own a place on the beach in Dungeness about 5 'doors down' from Ben and Doris tarts place. I remember them well - as a young boy i would go round to see them with my gran and always remember seeing the model lifeboat on its stand in their lounge.
I even have some cine films of it being launched and sailed both in the sea and also in the lakes just inland.
I always wondered what happened to it!

I think she's actually over in Ireland at the moment, and not in too good a state......but stand to be corrected.
