Hello all,
I have been trolling around in internet land, looking for a new project to tinker with. I found some pictures of the Tug, Forth Hunter. Formally owned by Briggs Marine, she is now called Mainport Kells. I have googled her and found a few specs. And some confusing specs too. For one she is listed at 37m Long. But there is also reference to her being 27m long. This poses a problem in its self.
Question, does any one know of a firm who might do a hull that would suit, or even posses plans that could be used to make a hull?
Any tips or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

I have also been playing on Delft ship. Made this, but it looks kinda odd. I only have a few low res out of water pics to go by.
What have I got wrong.?

The hull outline effectively has a double break with the second near the bow where the handrails run into the bulwarks(?). I know it's not strictly the hull but visually it is. So I think you need to cut down the top of the hull near the midships.

Possibly those two conflicting measurements belong to her both.......one would be LOA (length over all) and the other is her measurement LBP ( Length between perpendiculars.....which in this case would be between sten post and the centres of the aft perp of the centre skeg and not the centres of the Kortz nozzle shafts..................?????

Nothing to add really......  just wanting to say good choice for a scratch build project, she's a great looking (proportioned?) vessel!

Hi Guys,
So much looking like the Robbe Happy Hunter kit which I have built as well as converting a Happy Hunter into the Smit Hunter. Suggest you look for a s/h Happy Hunter and convert it.

Hi,
Observations on the delft ship pic:

The water line is too high, too close to the break line in the hull.

The first break line going forward from the working deck level is flat on the photo, you have a rise in yours.

The top front of the hull, where the name is painted on, the photo shows it reclining towards the stern at the front, yours is vertical.

I think the delftship model looks about right. I'm looking at it as being a model of everything below the lines on this photo:





where it looks quite good, and then fit the rest to the hull after.

Saw her in the Firth of Forth back in August doing work on the new bridge they are constructing  , wish i had taken camera with me instead of the binoculars tho
i also would be interested in trying a build of her as she is a smart looking tug  :-))

You are spot on. I had not tried to model anything other than the hull. The upper works I would do after I get the hull right. I felt the lines on top were correct, but just the shape below that was waht I was concened with.

I think the actual bow is curved and that that is a rubber fender over the top of it making it look straighter...

Overall, I have the whole bow shape wrong. Too square, not enough flare.
I had a play this morning. Still not perfect, but getting closer.
The displacement getting closer too..
