Model drill 'collets'
« on: December 03, 2012, 11:06:00 pm »

Hi
I have about 3 or 4 drills or packets of the tools for them, all the collets are slightly different colours or materials BUT they are all interchangable.

Who or what are these type of collet known as? Are they 'Dremel'?

I'm asking as I'm trying to buy the smallest collet available for my 0.3mm drills, I also want to buy a pin vice and I'd like this to take the same collets as my other drills.

Can anyone provide a link or show me what I need.

ive given up with the collets , instead i bought myself a three jaw chuck from dremel , it simply fits on the tool in place of the collet and retaining nut , and will fit all drills / tools upto about 4mm dia , the chuck costs around £ 10 from b&q  jon

I feel exactly the same way regards collets, a chuck would be nice.

But what size is the thread I need? It's a drill from Lidl/Aldi called a 'Parkside'. [great little bargain, variable speed for £16] The thread Dia. is about 7mm.

Ebay has hobby drill chucks for 'Dremel' or a 'Micromot Machine'. Does anyone know the size of the thread of either?

:-)) That's really helpful. I had a feeling they'd all be the same size, my 2 colleted drills are but my black & decker 'minicraft' has a '8?mm' thread.

My Parkside is corded but I don't suppose that alter things.

Just ordered the Dremel Chuck from Amazon - £7.04 plus P&P.  As my nearest B&Q is about a 30 mile round trip the postage would be cheaper even if I didn't have a Prime account :-))
I have Minicraft and Proxon Collet sets but they don't fit the Dremel, which came with only one size of collet.

Yes, there's at least 2 sizes of dremel collet.

And the Dremel spindle is .272" or .275" which is a few gnats nads under 7mm. Apparently, the Far East manufacturers like to work in metric.

What did you get the chuck for? Please tell me it's a parkside!  ok2
