Bogstandard engine
« on: December 26, 2012, 11:26:13 am »

Over the Chrismas break I have been looking at the Bogstandard engine as the building board (kitchen table has been put to other uses %% ).
Has anybody ever tried the build using imperial kit? All my equipment is imperial and I don't think purchasing metric for the project is an option.

DON't try to do direct conversions for all the bits. If you understand engines, then make the parts that are supposed to fit together fit. 25mm CAN be 1" if it isn't linked to the timing.

Like you my kit is imperial and I build a lot of metric sized engines just using 25.4 and going to the nearest Imp size for bearings and bushings

I built Bogstandard's twin cylinder, piston valve engine to his metric dimensions. However, I used BA threads rather than metric as I had no small metric taps or dies. This did not cause any problems.
