Billing Boat Waveney Class 1:40 build
« on: February 03, 2013, 05:12:06 pm »

I bought this small kit back in the mid 90s and it has moved around with me ever since.

I started the build the 17 Jan 2013 as I was working on my Grupner Neptun can be seen her http://www.skalamodelskibe.dk/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=744&rowstart=0  sorry it's in Danish but I think that the photos says it all, and had to have something else to do in between.

I have taken 2 servos apart to be used as drive line and I will fit a 2.4GHz RC.

I must say that it's not the best quality a lot of the parts seems to have been cut out with a axe or something similar

Hi

I was planning to use 2 converted servos as drive linesand they have been taken apart.

ut I have found 2 issues that may change my mind.

1: Full speed is achieved at ½ of The movement of the throttle stick, this can be solved if you uses a programmable transmitter.
2: The 0 adjustment (where the motor isn't turning) is not very easy and it tends to change during use.

I'm planning to ditch the servo electronics and use a small ESC Robbe rokraft 50uP.

I think that I will stay with the motors from the servoes even though it seem to be a god alternative choice for motors.

Very tempted to pick up one of these as i'd like a static lifeboat model, and there's very few old Lifeboat kits in small scale - would you recommend it at all? I have experience of small plastic models, white metal, resin etc, but never a boat

There has not been any progress the last months due to my right arm  >>:-(

I would say that I would by this kit again but it's annoying that there are so much fiddling to get everything to fit.

I've got one of these, and despite being sold as a Waveney lifeboat it is only accurate to a single boat which is the US Coast Guard boat no. 44300, the prototype 44 foot MLB. The wheelhouse is a different shape on the RNLI boats and the production USCG boats, nothing that a bit of scratch building can't solve. However, as it is, it does not build into an accurate model.
