Put a bid on Sea Queen No probs there told him I was a new ebayer and wouldnt screw him around....no probs there...approached by him today asking if I wanted the boat and just to make him an offer and I could have it today, just looked now Bid has been retracted and it has been PULLED off ebay.I think what he is doing is this...as soon as he has bids on his items he waits till he gets a bd then offers it to them at an offer price. If this offe ris enough he pulles the items and cancells any other bids...A VERY NAUGHTY WAY OF TRADING

im fairly new to ebay myself..

i dont understand how he can do that.....is my bid not legally binding if he has an item for sale at 99p....and one person bids...surely it is legally binding..

thats what reserves are for...or buy it nows....not ill wait until i see then pull it......if he did that to me i would be demanding ebay do something

As far as I am aware the bid is only binding once the Auction has closed, up to about 12 hours I think you can cancel the Auction.
I had to do it once when I realised I had already sold/given away a mag to someone else but forgotten to delete it of eBay.
The Rules and Regs of Ebay are a minefield..

technically, Yes, chris, but Ebay and most sellers place a caveat emptor on their goods, ebay won't back you up, and in my younger days when I attempted suing ebay for not honouring a voucher they sent me for 96 quid off my next purchace........I found when I submitted the claim to small claims that they rejected it because Ebay is registered as a forweign company and so suing them would be close on impossible...they are a sham really and people make up their own rules and ebay back them up.

interesting

you learn something new everyday, i suppose if you know the devil your dealing with then fair enough.

ive not had any issues in 50 purchases, apart from one guy who had an old zwarte zee for sale, he wrote on the description that fittings are with it but couldnt find them, when he did find them he would re-write his description.....low and behold the day the listing was to end he conveniently found the fittings and listed them for auction not as part of the sale as he said he would....i sent him a firm message and in no way was i purchasing a part kit.....he claimed ignorance...it worked out in the end <*< {-)

Its sad really, that some people let E Bay down.Apart from 3 times I have had  good dealings on there, buying over 1000 items, some for pals without an e bay account. 2 out of the 3 were for shoddy goods, chinese xmas lights, where I lost my money. One seller charged too much for postage and sent me a refund.I hope this rat gets his come uppance. Why dont we all bombard him with silly bids on his items?
All I can say ,is good models or not I did warn you!

Because you would become no better than the ones complained about. And you might get a strike against your account. a few of those and you might as well give up buying or selling, if you are banned from selling it is often any accounts at the same address also banned.
Unfortunately , and probably down to ignorance of eBay's way of doing things many bad sellers get way with things because they are not reported in the correct EBay manor, I know they have introduced new ways to report bad sellers, luckily I have never had to use them so would not really know myself.
Move on I say..

Long build you are not quite correct in what you are stating ....it is not the addewss that is banned at all.....it is the Email address linked to that seller that will be banned THATS all....Change the email addy and you up and running again.

HOW do I know well I had to do it.

I sold an iten to an IDIOT of an Australian....ok NOT all of them are IDIOTS  :-))  He started a pay pal claim 5 days after winning as he had NOT recieved his Item..... Ebay strike given as HE did not close the case Judgement against ME.
And he STILL has the goods FACT

Bought some bits off an ebayer left Neg feedback as goods were Pants got money back.....Mnths ltr he bought £1500 worht of Motorsport goods off me...never paid   started Dispute.....got police involved he got prosecuted for trying to get goods by Deception case never closed Ebay Sided on HIS side another strike given.

A Mnth later he bid under another Ebay name and did the same Guess WHO was stopped from selling YES IT WAS ME.

I have had him thrown off Ebay 15 times so far funnily enough yet again TODAY and he still manages to come back.

As I did not have a selling account and needed one I looked into beating the system and ALL you do is to  start again with a new ID new email addy and away you go.

I for one would like to be able to see who you are bidding against as it was so so easy to trace a friend of a seller who was Bumping goods up Now you can not .

Stav,

You arent entirely correct either, although it does appear that way with regards to your own experience with the gnomes of eBay.

Both eBay/Paypal cross-reference IP addresses and combined Paypal accounts, amongst whatever other means that they have at their disposal.

From what you have said regarding your own problem, you don't appear (to me) to be a dodgy seller, just an unfortunate one - However, I am aware of several accounts which were linked to a group of 'questionable' characters, which were either closed/blocked and/or restricted because one of them raised a red-flag.

Good luck with your new account.

Andy

p.s. How and why does your 'problem' purchaser manage to find you so quickly?

With respect I disagree.
It is eBay that is at fault as they are more concerned with making money.
Consider this, why do all and sundry have to bring, advise, report, etc to eBay when they should be administering their site,. No, it costs time and money and cuts into their profits, far cheaper for you to do it for them, then if its wrong it is Your fault.

Also happens if you challenge eBay and triumph, your account will be closed, as will all at the same address, got the T shirt.

Just looked at our 'abusive seller's' items It would appear that 'corgi-bob has one extremely keen bidder, who currently holds top place on six of his auctions. Not anyone on here is it?...
