Hi all,
I have started to build a 90M yacht on Google SketchUp 8, a free downloadable software to create 3D models. Anyway, the boat is a concept design for Benetti Shipyard. My granddad has worked for Benetti as a naval architect for some years and he often sends me brochures so I can drawl over the hot tubs, Sky decks, engines ect.!
So I started by print screening the side view and I began to trace around it to get the right shape.

After that I started to draw the ribs which I am about half way through now.

Thanks Wayne. No I wont be building a model of it. It would be a bit complicated as I have never scratch built before!

Hi again,
Just finished the hull. 14,000 odd lines drawn! The first picture shows all the lines that were drawn, then the next photo shows all the gone, they have been softened. Engines and crew area now.

Just a little more done. Copied the hull to make a full hull, got the engines and props in. The engines are a pair of V-16 MAN engines that I drew myself a few years ago. There are 6 gennies, workshop ect. Everything in the picture is drawn by me apart from the two turbo's on the engines.

Thanks Wayne, Just a little more done last night but Flickr wouldn't work so here goes, just the tender garage done with doors on both sides that actually work. It looks a bit basic in here but when I finish there will be a few water toys that I have drawn going in there. Put the main deck on and the stairs to the so called 'Beach Deck' (Just a massive platform). Crew area on tonight's agenda.

Ok then, just finished the crew area. I have cheated by copying and pasting the parts of the bedroom from one to another. Just got to cover it all up add the stairs up to the main deck then it is time for the owners/quest areas. Cheers Reece

Hello again, I have done quite a lot today. I decided to do some work to the 'beach deck'. The doors work as you can see in the photos. The sunblind also works above and does was a blind does! This area is now pretty much complete. The crew also now have access from their quarters to the engine room and to the side decks as well as to the main deck. The 4 pillars sticking up are there because I plan to have a skylight coming from the very top, through all the decks, to the main deck. Reece

Not got much done recently by here goes, the main deck is complete with guest accommodation, small dining area, galley, bar and sofa areas. The main piece of this deck is the spiral staircase which took me about an hour to make but I am very pleased with the results.

Right after having a few weeks off I am back! Not a lot to report on really  But anyway I have completed the owners cabin, main dining table and a lounge area. The owners cabin has a sunbed, swimming pool and sofas outside. Wheelhouse and the skippers cabin is next on the list. Cheers,
