Windows in models
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:43:04 am »

Just wondering what the general opinion is on windows, blacked out like shipbuilders models or clear ? I'm at a crossroads with one of my models and might go either way, I like a nice interior but never seem to get around to doing it.

Hi
there are some factors that may swing your mind in wich way to windows
1 Livery of ship. If it is dark then black tape does not stand out well
2 time frame. If you dont care how long it takes to build a model then cut out windows win .
3 amount of windows. If are doing a ocean liner for exampel get one cut out window wrong it will stand out. black tape remove and reaply.
4 Lighting can not be done with black tape.

My self I would go with cut out windows.

I always go with cut-out windows - even on smaller models.

If I'm not putting any detail in the interior, then I go with tinted windows. Guess that could be the answer to your dilemma ? O0

Tinted windows

The material for these windows was from plastic bubble pack for something I bought a while ago - does the job nicely. You can see they are glazed windows but they don't show an empty cabin ! %)
