What do you do with moulding plugs for hulls after use?
« on: April 04, 2013, 12:48:13 am »

As above really, for you members who mould your own hulls. What do you do with the plugs after you've used them? I've been looking at a few threads recently were people have moulded their own hulls and it got me thinking that the plugs would make a good basis for a static model without much hassle due to the hull already being made. I may be rambling a bit but I hope I make sense  %)

Not a silly idea at all, depends on the future plans for the mold, if you only want a few hulls from the mold then what happens to the plug doesnt matter but if you plan to contiuously use the mold then hanging onto the plug is always a good idea just incase of a catastrophe, I know I cant move in the crawlspace under my house for plugs I keep just in case.

It would also make a nice ready made master for the unscrupulous to start knocking out their own range of hulls.

If the master survives the process of making the tool, I just insert the master back in the tool, it keeps it protected, and doesn't take up any additional room.
