I was chatting to the members of Etherow club at Ellesmereport show a few weeks back, and the concensus was that there were too few boaters attending to make it viable.
the costs of putting the show on, including the tradition of giving a shield to every entrant of a boat, plus prizes, and other expenses, always came to more than the intake from modellers, and as such they ran at a loss each year...............so I can see why they have pulled the plug, and quite understand.....after all, clubs run on a tight budget and no one these days can run at a loss.
Sadly I think that is why Southport gave it away as a concern a few years ago, and unless we as modellers dig deep into our own pockets with respect to entrance fees for our boats, other smaller shows might go the same way.
