Much as I like 'Star Wars', one must ask, as you yourself have asked on previous threads, not started by yourself

To quote your words - "what has this got to do with Model Boats?"

Space SHIPS!

As you are no doubt aware, and is often pointed out when a topic has 'overwhelmed' the latest posts list, this is the 'Chit Chat' thread, and I don't think six whole posts is going to mess it up too much.

However, I accept that this thread could also have gone into the 'News' section as it's  (unnofficial) International Star Wars Day, or into the 'Humour' section, although it isn't entirely made up of comic images, or, as I chose, the 'Chit Chat' thread.

No doubt, it will find an appropriate home if the moderators or Martin think it is better suited elsewhere.

With any luck though, it may have raised a few smiles which was it's sole inention, and with it, being a Bank Holiday, has also been particularly quiet. With any luck, it may even have caught the attention of a different age group - which seems sadly lacking from the hobby.

Andy

p.s. The last batch of image's had a Landing Craft amongst them.

Well done Adross, excellent research as always, and loads of laughs  :}   :}   :}
There was a aircraft carrier in there to keep it topical.

At work today I had the pleasure of wishing many customers Happy Star Wars Day.
Was it Tony Blackburn that first coined this wonderful pun?
Never mind St Georges Day, let's make Star Wars Day a bank holiday  :-))

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that, it's much appreciated. Especially as it has taken ages.

When I was collating the images, I found a reference that (I'm fairly sure said, something like) George Lucas made a slip whilst being interviewed in Germany, and the fans picked upon it and adopted the day, although I believe that it wasn't too much of a stretch from the original film's release date which was already celebrated later in the month (25th I think).
TBH, don't take this as definitive until I can confirm the information.

Thank you once again.

Have a great weekend,

Andy
