Enduro
« on: May 11, 2013, 03:30:38 pm »

New to the site thought id tell you about my main passion. Most my weekends are taken up going to Enduro meetings. For those of you that dont know its pretty much a cross between trials bike riding and motocross. Has fast sections and technical slower stuff/steep climbs and trees that jump out in front of you without warning :o . My bike is a 2013 KTM 350 EXC-F Sixdays Edition. I had to work hard last year to buy it but i love it. Im still recovering from a double bout of broken ribs..... I got hit by another bike in march then hit a tree last month and got thrown a fair distance....its all part of it really. A few pics

Great hobby i have always fancied taking something like this up i had a couple of Yamaha Dt's in my youth and an old KMX200 i used off road but nothing too serious just larking around really but as i progressed through my motorcycles i always stuck to the off road bikes for some reason i love the styling. My last bike was an Africa twin rd04 750. Then i bought a car and became boring  <:(  That KTM looks awesome a proper off road tool  8)

As a sport its attracting a lot of new blood but there is also a battle keeping the byways open for trail riders to use. I dont mind the byways (obviously the bike has to be road legal) but i much prefer the closed course stuff. The DT is an absolute legend the off road sport owes itself to that bike!

Yeah i loved both my Dt's but they where both stolen at different times from locked garages if i ever get my hands on the b*****s  <*<

I managed to keep hold of my KMX for a couple of years then traded her in for a KLR 600 which was road legal

I dont understand why they are trying to stop people from using the byways on bikes it seems very unfair especially as most of the bikes are fully road legal anyway

I keep toying with the idea of fixing up an old DT but im too afraid of having it stolen again it sort of puts me off sadly

Its generally the ramblers trying to get the byways closed. Bikes and 4x4's damage them....but so does walking and horses. Byways are unmade roads but there are plenty of footpaths and bridleways in the countryside we cannot use but they can. The horse riders are generally fine we always stop shut off engines and they have a chat with us. Its unfortunate but its one of those things i guess.

I am 72 years old ex stock car racer. Now I act as mechanic for my son who rides enduro with a green plate you know what that means. His mates rope me in to refuel them, had eight at one meeting, mad mad.

My hat goes off to you sir! I hope he is enjoying the sport and its good to see family involved. I rode today im absolutely shattered and had a few "offs" as you do. Not a bad day. some of the course was closed due to being almost impassable. Should have some fresh pictures to follow but as for now im off to bed!!
