Help value charity donations...........
« on: May 13, 2013, 09:02:56 pm »

hello, i work for a well know sea going charity  ok2  and have had 8 model ships donated by a very genorous lady. they were her late husbands pride and joy and wanted them donating to the charity.
as these are incredable specialist, and we need the best value for them (charity running costs at £450k a day ok2 ), i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
ive taken a picture of 1 and will add new pictures tomorrow via photobucket if thats ok?

Are these static models or RC models? Scratch or kit builds?

My models are not nice, clean and ship-shape. They be mucky, grubby, rusty and smelly.

Nice looking models, they obviously have been made by a good model maker. The hulls of the boats could be either GRP-Glass reinforced plastic or vacuum formed plastic. The hulls can be bought and then the model maker would make the deck, superstructure etc. As for a kit-hull, deck etc not sure, but some folks on here may recognise the models as either full kits or just hulls. Prices vary as it is what ever someone is prepared to pay-£200 + is a good start as I think they are worth at least £200 minimum each, more for some of the larger models. Just bear in mind that although these models are good, postage would be out so folk would have to collect them, also a static model may command a lesser price than one that is okay with electrics etc.

The one in the foreground is the Afric Star, likely built on a Models By Design hull
