Water Cooling Pump
« on: July 03, 2013, 04:08:48 pm »

Hi all,
can anyone recommend a 6-12 volt water pump for a motor/esc. cooling system. I have only found the Robbe and Graupner ones which are for intermittent use only, so not suitable for this application.

Cheers, Terry.

Try a windscreen washer pump from scrapyard or EBay. If you hang it from the silicone pipes rather than bolt it to the hull is should be quiet. Good luck

I don't think any of the windscreen pumps will stand up to continuous operation, they're not really designed for that sort of thing.

If a water pickup tube in front of the prop is out of the question, then perhaps consider constructing a small centrifugal pump to be driven off the main motor via belt drive.

I have used windscreen washer pumps from Halfords or kit car suppliers for years & never had a problem even when restricting the flow to look more realistic . Make sure they are not mounted on a hard surface as they can be a bit noisy. I mount mine on a bed of silicon     Django
