no realy suprised no one else has replyed as this lifeboat is not looking very popular, judging by the amount of information available online ,would be intrested why people dont find this lifeboat atractive as a model build
Hi Dave.......the possibility is that:
a) the Mersey is a far more attractive boat to most people's beliefs, and as such, many modellers prefer to build that class of boat
b) the Brede, was a sort of Mongrel hybrid being a converted Lochin Marine International hull and fishing boat, and although gave excellent service within the RNLI, was to many a substitute for the Medina class ( jet drive and very unsuccessful rib) whilst the Mersey and the Arun class boats were developed.
However, it's all personal choice and a lot of people condemn the Solent class boat as ugly, plain and top heavy......lest we forget the Tamar when it first appeared................... so don't be put off because not many have replied to your requests for info..............you might get the same response to any lifeboat, not in the main stream of things.
any model, and all lifeboat models are beautiful things, in my mind, so crack on, and enjoy the build and the sailing of her.............you'll always be welcomed at a lifeboat rally with a Brede.
As for my next lifeboat............I fancy the Thames class...............now that is a mongrel...........but I like them, so long as I can eventually fnd the plans I have for her somewhere.
