Here is the diorama that was designed to sell. Sticking point is: A) pricey. And the most obvious really. B) I am rubbish at painting figures. The jetty and sea look good but the figures let it down, my disability means I struggle at the finer details. Never mind.

Here is the jetty with the fisherman and net in place. My wife helped with the face details as my hands are too shaky. It's the best it is going to get methinks, not good enough to sell, maybe for a tenner but no more than that so, going to do just do them for fun and family.

Very nice, Si:)
I disagree with your comment, re not good enough. Have confidence in your abilities and style.
Your not making one of millions of chinese tat, which by the way come no where near your efforts.
You are making one off hand crafted items, unique to you.
Its a piece of 3D art, look upon your efforts as such.
They are worth, not what you think they are worth, but what the buyer is willing to pay for a piece of unique art.
I myself like them very much.
As to the suggestion of a transparent cover to compliment and keep the dust off, then next time your in the local supermarket, or pound shop, have a look at  all the transparent containers, (with or without contents, which grace the shelves. There are so many of all different styles and shapes, the probability of finding one to suit, I'd say are high. I've done this over the years and paid very little for them, even if the family had to eat the contents first. Just requires a different way at looking at packaging, and you being a keen recycler, should have no problem. The only thing is I get some funny looks as I stand in the supermarket turning various clear containers every which way while mumbling to myself. Think outside the cube, so to speak.
Think Positive, and keep up the fantastic work.
Think twenty five quid for one of your wee diorama jetties is rock bottom. I'd gladly pay that and more for one, if I lived anywhere near the UK.
cheers

Hi Si.
don`t see much wrong with that doing the face details is alway the hard bit. Don`t know what the scale is but guess at 1/24 when I am trying to do the iris I have a dot of blue paint on the end of piece of wire.  Usually I get one spot on then the other takes three goes to get it right.
If the head is looking down at what the hands are doing then the face detail don`t matter so much.  Just  a matter of re-branding to this.
term "Objet D'Art covers a wide range of works, usually small and three-dimensional, of high quality and finish in areas of the decorative arts, not paintings or sculptures.......SORTED...!!!!!!
what about these ready painted seem to  be  reasonable priced.

Listen yer dopey tart, thought we'd bin through all this at Batley?  <*<

T'ony thing is you might have to invest in some matt finish paints for the figures.

Hi Frank, looked at those figures before but was unsure of them. Got myself three seated ones for just over a tenner, slightly bigger scale but cheaper than £7 each. Just make the dios slightly bigger. Will just touch-up if need be.

Yes Dad...I'm listening. Maybe I need a thick ear?  :}

Believe it or not Ian, most of the figure is painted in matt paints, trousers, jacket and hat, with gloss for his wellies and peak of his hat. Of course he has some weathering to his jacket, but it does look shiny, must be the paint as all the highlights are matt too. Don't know what happened there.

 hi Si.
nowt wrong wi paint lad it can happen its the technique been there.  stir the paint a bit more and apply it a little less thickly.  I have had occasion when painting a figure where having applied the paint it still looks wet a period later but it was dry and had a bit of a sheen on it.
I had slapped it on too generously instaid of spreading it along the item in a thinner coat. Some times a matt paint item can get a shine from too much handling.
