Action P94 Mode settings .On a Tug  is there a general opinion which would be the better setting for general sailing . Mode 3  Ahead  Astern when moving and turning  Or Mode 4 Ahead and stop when moving and turning. At present set onMode 3 which is not good at all .Albeit I need to get here  ballasted much lower which may be   contributing

Why not set it for what suits you?

I would think it best to get the right trim first then set the drivetrain up (even real ships differ when light to that of loaded or ballasted)

Thanks both  the first, what suits me is a boat that Will turn  at the mo this one wont .As said  perhaps it is only the ballast which I am working on before I let er run amok agin . However  there   surely is some science or principals  twixt the two methods which is what I would like to know .Appreciate one can just try both  once ballast is correct but that would not be learning anything really

You would earn how your model acts to the different set ups and so in that you will then hold the knowledge that there is some difference and also why not try inward and outward rotating screws to also see how your model reacts and then you can put the best of each RD to make your model top dog in your enjoyment of it.
Just my opinion like.

Hi she is already set up with inward /outward screws as said  once I have her ballasted more  I will be doing trial and error. Just as a point of interest I have one (not a tug) with triple screws all going the same way and that runs fine

You say at present it's set on mode three....which you say is not good at all....if you have it set up correct your boat will turn in it's own length just by using  the rudder control without any use of the throttle.
You need to check all connections again.

Dave     what I am saying is the boat does not turn/steer   on the move  I know it turns if you just use the rudder but would think thats for manouvering   not steering. quite hairy  to     use that at speed. There is no prob with the wiring as it all works as it should  ie corresponding prop goes to reverse if under power . I,m sure its just too high on the water/ hopefully I will try it out at the weekend

Tugs do prefer stern deep bow light due to the large props but this is a good general rule.
It depends on the shaft and rudder configuration.
2 shafts single rudder, 2 shafts 2 rudders.
I have used the P94 very successfully on a 10 foot heavy cruiser hull so a tug should be a doddle.

Thanks to all for their input  now resolved.  Whilst the motors were   connected ok for  ahead /astern running they were  connected to the wrong terminals on P94 changing over resolved  .At least till I get it back on the water
