RC missile boat show for the sea fire-battle
« on: January 23, 2014, 12:28:03 pm »

Greetings from Cherkasy , Ukraine.
I'm building a missile boat RC , body length - 60 cm, for participation in the maritime fight in the United States in St. Louis, against the 6th American Pacific Squadron . This will be a show fight, because , in American combat use only pneumatic weapons . My boat will shoot out two missile salvo apparatus 25 missiles on each side . The question is simple : - In your club has experience in conducting such shipmodel sea battles with the use of firecrackers . Sample battle can be found here :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOWubVLdmN4&feature=related

The second question -  is this topic interesting for the participants of your club ?
Sincerely,

Igor

Is it interesting to clubs, yes, but most members do not like the
powder burns left on the deck of the model after a display has finished.
...
..
.

Be careful.
I used to do a smoke, 2 flare port, 2 flare starboard, 25 salvo,  and finish with 12 flare and report.
I always made sure the display was clear out in the center of the pond.
Despite that caution for safety, there were incidents where a wild shot would leap out to the crowd.
Keep all aerial displays as close to vertical as possible.
Even done "safely", pyrotechnics are unpredictable.

Manual safety switches for power circuits or saftey keys are a must.
Mine also required two servos to activate. The first servo sounded a horn and made
the circuit hot, the second servo would ignite the five or six displays across consecutive switches.
A fourth safety was that I never moved the ship to or from the water with the ignition wires connected.
The last thing you want is to lean over your boat to set it in the water, and have the pyros ignite.

Be safe.

Hopefully legislation keeps Toy Sea Warfare away from British shores. Bad enough the attitude of some numpties with regards to controllable missiles let alone press and pray and it's always that one that hits the media headlines.

Could work well for the ambulance chasers cos where there's blame there's a claim.

How is the case against the toy offshore missile going?

I believe these events shown are staged once a year, allowing planning to go into their staging, rather like November 5th displays, however the elf and safety nazis dont seem to be as active in some countries, as here in the UK, for better or worse. Better probably.
we always check out venues before displaying, including safe distances from the public, safe arming/disarming areas, fish and if they are bothered ( honestly!), as well as carrying out risk assessments for all displays, including static shows ( you will all be doing that soon ) and annual checks on all our pyro models. You need to plan for the worst and counter that with suitable actions. If you are not confident to use this sort of effect, dont do it.
If you see our guys at an event, feel free to ask questions or watch how we do what we do, we have been doing this for over 25 years and have picked up a thing or two over that time.
And try not to shoot things out of the model, the police dont like that.

Looking forward to the updates on the toy offshore missile case, whatever that is...

C'mon UBN, shock waves travel through water, never heard of how Angel fish are caught?

Case I was referring to was the guy in the harbour who just happened to be in the way of a toy offshore race pursuit boat?

At least a no no on chucking bits out of a boat is better than nothing.  :-))

we've never caught a fish yet. They find model boats most tedious and go somewhere else when we indulge in our hobby.

Hello everyone .
I am very glad that in England there is a show in Portsmouth .  Right ?
Sea battles with the use of firecrackers - a very spectacular show.
I think the Sea  Club in the Czech Republic ( Zilina ) - Mirromak club, now is leader in this type of the show.
Of course , security issues for the peoples - is a very important .
Security for models as well.
But damage from firecrackers that explode in the air - there are minimal .
To a greater extent - suffer ships, that have run for these firecrackers .
In my case - I will protect the deck - foil lining , which are set on fire from rockets Muffler .
In the case of 25 volleys of "Katyusha" - there is no need to protect the deck , because she has a firecracker plug.
I would like to see the video - fights in Portsmouth . Can I get a link ?

Follow the link above for a selection of our videos.
I agree the Czech Sea Club do a fine display, and their Commodore rocks a mean uniform.

I think the use of Fireworks/Firecrackers and their appreciation or not is a national thing. some nations indulge in traditional festivals heavy in the use of firecrackers, this translates easier to fitting them to RC models without creating 'ripples' within the greater publics perception of safety. dont get me started on the goings on in the west Country :-) .

I have a mature system for vertical launching an effect from a warship, self consuming as it goes, leaving nothing at the top of its trajectory, however there is always that niggling concern that it could go wrong. so it sits on the shelf. Dont ask how it works, i'm not telling...

Hello everyone .
I am very happy - in England there is a battle ship model . It would be very strange - if GB is Sea Country - it not be present. This is similar to the Czech battle. Thanks for the links .
I will attempt to contact with modellers from Portsmouth .
Thank you.
I ask moderators  to move this my topic on your forum - to Related area .
I would like to pursue a more in-depth contact with people, who are interested in this topic .
For me now is very importtant to deside next problem  :
- Destroy the occasional flight of fireworks rockets to the side ( to increase accuracy ) . I make an attempt to solve this problem in the following way :
- Each from the 25 pieces of racket in the cassette has an additional load on the nose as load from plasticine ( it is safe for peoples )
- Each of the racket 25 pieces in the drawer has on the body cut in the form of a spiral .
In my opinion - is to increase the risk of ejection rocket in the direction of not less than 50% ( ask the rotation around the axis and makes heavier the head of the rocket.)
Want to hear from other modelers. Maybe someone had the experience ?
