Best ready to run boat or almost ready to run
« on: July 24, 2014, 05:08:08 pm »

I and our club members are often asked which is the best ready to run boat or almost ready to run for a young person to start off with.  We always tell them to stay away from cheap imports.  Any advice would be appreciated.

From what we see at the lake, the youngsters are 99%
interested in SPEED.
We tell dads and mums to stay away from cheapo so called fast
boats but where can you send them?
Even the so-called model shops only sell Chinese junk.

Appreciate  these are not for first  time youngsters  but anyone thinking about them might
I have the Graupner 1/24 PT 596 The motors are Nameless and the fittings armament  pretty poor and very brittle first run I tried it  went from  steady ahead to to be a Submarine in full astern virtually half the deck under water . It was the Esc at fault  I believe that was a Graupner. But when she runs  she runs well and looks good .The other is the Robbe  Dusseldorf  agin nameless motors me thinks the same as the Pt boat and same couplings  bit better quality and also goes well. Probably all Built  by  the same  wee chinaman {-)

A dickie tug, looks ok, goes ok, and has the novelty lights and water pump. You don't need any mods,  and its a fair size and weight, even has a stand! :-))
