  the Canadian Lanc runs regularly out of the the Hamilton Canadian War Plane Heritage Museum (http://www.warplane.com/) . It, and a number of other planes are available for short trip hires. It is usually out for Remembrance day services. There are a number of preserved Lancasters in Canada, although mostly on plinths (http://www.bombercommandmuseum.ca/lancs.html)

I guess someone has to pay to get a visit from preserved aircraft, so given that most of the UK's population and money are crammed into the SE (not that I'm unhappy about that    ) it's not really surprising that most flights are down that way.

   you have the Vulcan gave a tenner to keep it flying the last time I saw and heard one was when I was at raf  Waddington in 1961 made the married qts rock  and beening called out at 2am for exercise what a memory

I was at RNAS Lossiemouth in 61 Gordon.
We were a Master Diversion airfield for the V bombers.
We had a strengthened hard standing to park them on
Bit bigger than our Sea Hawks,Vampires, Venoms
Scimitars (The red Blades) before the Red Arrows.
Hunter T8's and three NA39's .
Everything we had was dwarfed by the bad boys.
We had to keep the airfield accessible 24/7 in case
of fog at Wadding ton etc.

it will spend some time flying over Bomber County.

hi ned yes we had 39 sqdn canberras at luqa was not fussed about going up in them liked to see where im going  went up in a slinsby open glider that was real flying  just the noise of the  wind   went up in a c130 stood at the end ramp down  strapped in loverly went flying in a Wessex when in the regt  thought it was going to bresk up rattles every where argosy lovely  dc3 from aden down to oman came home in a dc7 piston engine 18 hours but great bit seats like arm chairs  Viking to malta 1954  was Cpl cook on duty at transit hotel  at luka when the York went down half an hour before I han got the flight rations ready for them the burnt marks are still on the cliff at dingle point  long time ago still had spitsfires   huricanes long long time ago    gordon

  We used Belfasts then C130s in the 1960s great planes both of them.

The Canadian lanc and the BBMF lanc are flying over Marham airfield on August 21 for the RAF airshow that day, stand in the spotters end of the runway and you'll see both fly together with a Spitfire and Hurricane. The Vulcan is also booked for a couple of fly pasts but rumours have it that a JSF might make an appearance since Marham is the future main operating base for them. I'll believe when I see it!
I've had some brilliant flights but the best recent one was a flight in a SeaKing helicopter flying at 50ft over the mountain ranges in the Falklands.

I have never seen a Lancaster flying, but have seen the RAAF aircraft, G for George, in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, many times. It is a remarkable aircraft, in that it survived the war after flying 90 missions over Germany for 460 Squadron, RAAF. It was built in 1942 and is the star exhibit in the aircraft hall at the AWM.

I had the pleasure of being shown round the Lancaster "City of Lincoln" when it was at Newcastle Airport for the city's
900 yr celebration and the crew were staying at a hotel on my beat. It looks big from the outside but it is really small
once you get onboard - but I did have a 6hr Maritime patrol flight on a S.A.A.F  Shackleton south over the Cape of
Good Hope when HMS Leopard was at Simonstown.  Was a friend of the flight engineer.  Hearing severely impaired for several
hours after.  It was described as 1million rivets flying in close formation but a great aircraft.

Ah yes, the memories, never managed to get a flight in a Lancaster, but did get one in a Lincoln, and that was before I joined the RAF back in 56, took a while to decide if I liked it, 37 years in fact. Although the big boys are a pretty majestic sight a Lightning straight up from the end of the runway takes some beating. Anyway best of luck that some of us manage to see both Lancs.

 went to Lincoln to see both lancs hurricane spitfire plus red arrows fly over the cathedral but due to the storms the fly past was cancelled....lots of people in Lincoln waiting for it to happen....so sad   tony

She was supposed to pass over Caistor on her way to Coningsby but sadly again due to the
Great British Summer weather no show.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a couple of Lancasters flying around the UK.

I did the 'Just Jane' experience a few years ago - sitting in the cockpit with all 4 Merlins revving was amazing.

The plane felt as though it wanted to jump into the sky! (lots of horsepower, low fuel load, no weapon payload - it was bouncing as it taxied! 

She's soon going to be 3rd Lancaster back into the air.
