profilemors - any feedback?
« on: August 20, 2014, 10:02:35 pm »

Gentlemen

Have any of you had dealings with a Polish firm called profilemors with a website advertising model ship plans?
If so I would be interested in your feedback with regard to their standard of service.

Hi corixa

Welcome to the forum

Do you mean Profile Morskie? I have never heard of the one you mentioned but the service from Profile Morskie is good but get in quick if you want the books as they take preorders up to a certain date and then only print that many! White Ensign models keep a supply and charge roughly the same. Good quality books and plans that seem to improve with each new release.

Hi Martin

Yes, that would be the firm. Their site advertises ship plans as well as the books many
modellers will be familiar with. It is their service with regard to the former, sold over the
web, that I am interested in hearing about.

Hi Corixa

I can definitely help there, I recently bought plans of HMS Coventry, HMS Abercrombie, and HMS Frobisher via the online plans part of Profile Morskie. They are sent to you via email as a PDF folder and you can print them off as many times as you like. To prevent mis-use they write your name across the lower section of each page so you can't pass them off as your own. But they are very good, unlike the books they also make there are no pictures or history just the drawings of the vessel and each major fitting such as a gun or an ammo locker. I've used them to make a model of HMS Coventry in 1/96 scale and they work very well with the hull I bought.
They usually send them within a couple of days of payment via PayPal so just keep an eye out in the your email account.
The paper plans will obviously take a little longer to arrive because they are in Poland but they are very good and usually arrive within three weeks of ordering.
Hope this helps.

Hi raflaunches

Yes it does help. Clearly you have had good experiences with this firm. They seem to offer
a great service to warship modellers.
However, it is one thing dealing with a British company but quite another dealing with one
based abroad where you may not have much comeback if things don't work out. It will be
interesting to see if others respond in a similar way. It would give one confidence to
pass them some money !
I was a bit surprised to hear of the delay in postal services from Poland as I have both
sent to and received from there in the past and cannot recall that kind of delay. However
I am guessing that you are quoting from recent experience so things may have changed.

I can agree with all that raflaunches says.
I have used both methods of delivery, postal and email, on many occasions and have never had any problems.

Hi Peter

Thanks for the further positive feedback. One question - do the files sent over the
internet print out as A4 tiles needing to be joined together? My printer can only
handle this size of paper.

Hi corixa

They are A4 sized tiles and can be printed as you would normally print A4 sheets.
