Brushless Motors help (Lifeboat)
« on: September 07, 2014, 11:56:34 am »

Hi,
Being new to the brushless world I have two Turnigy D3536/6 1250kv brushless motors which I would like to know whether they would be suitable to fit into a Lifeboat (Aerokits Solent class @ 48" long) either driving off a 6v or 12  sealed gell any help would be appreciated.

Rich

There's a video on youtube from one of those running on two MF800 @ 12V. That's around 5100rpm with no load.

On 6V your brushless motors would be around 7500rpm with no load. Looks like plenty of power.

What kind of props ?

I would have probably used slightly bigger motors, but I always tend to use 1 size bigger than maybe required to be safe that I donīt have to swim.
48" sounds like around 15kg weight.

I never use more then 1-1,5W/g weight of the (chinese) brushless motors. So 100W for these motors at 6V (at 12V they turn too fast).
Thatīs what makes them durable without the cooling stream from an air prop.

But it should work, even at 15kg if you donīt overdo it with the prop diameter and pitch.

I use a pair of theses motors each with its own esc and lipo 11.1 v battery in a Slipway Tamar lifeboat. It makes it move along very nicely but i don't run it flat out so nothing gets hot at all. There very good motors for the price.
