This is now completed, done tank tests no issues. Took it up the lake and hit a snag with the prop shaft couplings which were turning on the shafts. have now sorted this. Real problem to launch its a big beast.
Bought a little trolley off EBay and attached my transporter frame to this and it goes into my big trailer OK. Lifting from trailer to the water and out again is quiet an effort to do.
The purpose of this post is to thank all those members who have replied to my posts and queries without this help it I could not have achieved this build. It has taken me some 12 months and many hours but well worth it. I am sure that my build quality is not up to some of you guys and many times I would have liked to have had Brian Roberts on hand and perhaps Stavros to do my paint job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know where the Speedline Severn goes really. I am not lifeboat fanatic but the Severn and perhaps the Tamar are the most intresting as there are bits you can see, the crane the Y boat etc. I fully appreciate the builds of the older lifeboats I have seen but there is something special about the Severn in terms of interest.
I think Speedline need to address this model but appreciate that without sales there will always be issues which for me was the dummy 14BA bolts. i couldn't see myself cutting these from hexagon plastic rod and took the easy option and purchased from a machine shop I found.
There are aspects of the model which could have been made better and easier to build which would have helped those that I have read who have abandoned the build and transported to the loft! I would include in this the rear railing and trim tabs etc. It all depends on circumstances and the amount of time you have to spare. I dont think I would want to build another think I have used up all my brownie points in my workshop!
Thanks gain to all.
