Hi Allan,

This site does permit live videos so you have to reference them for people to click on and see.

Cheers

I think Kenny has missed the point slightly here.

You WILL need to upload to youtube to post videos on here. Fortunately it's not too difficult as an iPad can upload directly to your youtube account if you have one. You can then access it from your computer and do as Kenny says to get it on here, or if it's not on your iPad you can upload straight from the computer.

You will need a youtube account, it is not possible to link to the file on you ipad, you would be asking the ipad to act as a server and that doesn not work! A youtube account is quick and simple to set up, done in a couple of minutes.

it is, if you don't have superfast broadband or fibre optic connections.......it comes up on my computer that down load time is 380 minutes for a 6 minute video......and then it cancels out towards the end because it is taking too long.............and I ain't paying for that stuff, just to download to youtube. <*< <*< <*<

I can't say I've had a problem. Yes the upload time is generally quite slow, but this has nothing to do with Youtube, it's just that upload speeds with most internet service providers are a lot slower than download speeds.

I tend to find that it's a golden opportunity to have a nice cuppa and a read whilst the upload takes place.

Hi Allan.
what kenny is trying to tell you is that you click, copy and paste the url address of your you tube video on to the forum page you are going to post for us to see your video.
When you paste the url on the page it will be highlighted in blue lettering this means the address is live, so that when members click on the url it will take them directly to your you tube video page.

I have had pictures sent to me via Ipad's and they take a lot of time to download.   These machines have massive amounts of memory in their pictures  (and now movies)  so I would advise you download to a normal computer and use this to upload via broadband to YouTube.

Neil is right about the speed problem so this idea might be your best bet.

Cheers

Kenny, sending it to your computer makes NO difference to the file size. Furthermore it will not make any difference to the upload time whether you use an iPad or computer, so long as you upload via wi-fi.

I omitted to say that you need to reduce their size on the computer.  I took it as read that this was apparent, as it would, as you say,  be a waste of time.

I do this all time with my pictures to Photobucket as well.  It certainly speeds up the transfer of data.  My camera delivers pictures at 2.5 megs each, so they are reduced to 400k for onward transmission.  My pictures on the Mayhem site have to reduced to 100k or under,  so I end up three sets of pictures stored on my machine all of different sizes.
( it's a good job I've two terabytes of memory in there..... te he )

Hope this clears things up

Hiya Neil,

I was referring to stills photographs in my last post.

I make movies with my Power Director program.  This has the ability to do all sorts of magic stuff to home movies.  I now have over 30 films on YouTube, complete with  'Ads'  for the revenue but it doesn't look like I'll be a rich man in the near future.   %)

You still need superfast broadband though.

Cheers
