This is a little project that has got to be done! Marmaduke the original was built buy my late uncle about 25 years ago. while clearing out his house a couple of months ago we discovered Marmaduke had fallen behind the sofa and suffered major damage:
as a result I brought him home and stuck him on a shelf.
On Christmas day I opened a box that said 'live animal' on the side. I thought someone had brought a rabbit or some other pet for my children. (we have two dogs, a cat and two horses. I do NOT need any more animals to feed!

) Inside, much to my relief, was Marmaduke II. So here is the rebuild!
I started by stripping and testing the various components. The list of working parts include: the motor, the r/c transmitter and receiver, two servos and the led eyes. The battery pack and the cells are all knackered as is a switch. The prop shaft was seized but left in a tub of diesel over night enabled me to pull the shaft from the case and clean away the corrosion with some wire wool.
The next part was to cut away the weight from the bottom of the new duck. then I marked and cut away the top access to the interior. I have cut the slot for the prop shaft and now I'm ready to start on the rudder. This is where I have hit a snag! The original duck had the rudder less than 1/8th away from the tip of the prop. Should I move the shaft forwards or the rudder back? or do I put it in the same place?
The next challenge is going to be the filling of the molding impressions on the underside. Has anyone any ingenious ideas on how best to do this without adding 2st of epoxy?
