I have just been told by a friend that DAVE METCALF (Metcalf mouldings) is retiring (item in model boats). Now i will go out to buy model boat mag,and if so i would like to thank METCALF MOULDINGS  for his contribution to the model boating world and i am sure there will be a lot of people that will miss him on the show calender.

It was mentioned on another thread quite recently. He will be a great loss to us all, not only for the models he has produced, but for his ready wit,and friendliness when you meet him.And as I mentioned before,I hope he can produce the Liverpool Lifeboat and trailer before he does retire.
We can only wish him well, and hope he enjoys his retirement

Just found this, thanks.
We Moonbeam yacht builders and owners have Dave to thank for his inspiration in moulding the Moonbeam hull from a 19thC pond yacht and producing a truly lovely sailing model.  :-))  That's mine in front! ok2

My very good friend Dave......is retiring from business life, but not retiring from model making...........He is still very much involved in his love of O gauge steam railways, is looking in the long term at finishing the Liverpool class lifeboat ( and others) at some later stage and we chat regularly re his model projects.............

But Dave is taking time out..............He and his lovely wife Ann, have decided that they fancy some fun, travelling, and have bought a camper, and at their ages deserve some time out.
The business is going to a good home and hopefully the new owners will give as very good a service with the same aplomb and straight genuine talking as Dave has always done, and I as a mate wish him and Ann all the very best in their retirement from the cut and thrust of the model circuit.

Sad to see him go, but it's right to retire while you can enjoy the fruits of labour.
Neil, will the the new owners trade under the same name or will a new name take
over?

Does anyone know if the Moonbeam kit is still for sale anywhere? If not, could you suggest a suitable alternative please?

Thanks

Tony green steam in Lincoln brought the business apart from two kits (the Watson lifeboat, and the liverpool ,yet to be produced) the rest of the boat kits belong to Tony green steam models at Lincoln (at a much higher price)

There is an advert in the January issue of Model Boats for 'Dave Metcalf Boat Models'. It has Dave's original postal address and email address is [email protected]

It specifically lists the Moonbeam as an updated kit.

The powered models are listed on Tony Greens website, at 'revised' prices as Baloo
points out but  no mention of the Moonbeam.
Would like to know more about the upgrade.

Thanks to all.

Colin is that the Jan 2016 issue? I did not think that was available until the 18th Dec.

Thanks Dave, I got it! I should have bought a kit at the start of the year when I first thought about it but I was busy with another rocking horse. Since I live very close to David Metcalf, I could always stalk him until he starts selling again  http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/Smileys/Tug/smiley1.gif

To revive an old topic it looks like this kit has now finally appeared.

The liverpool looks like a goodey. Wifey is going to blow a gasket when I have to tell her I have yet another project in mind.

I thought we'd never see this kit and although I have so many unmade models already I had to have this one. it looks superb in the photo's, so I've just ordered it.  :-)
