Totally agree,it was better than the Norbreck, 2 traders and 4 clubs did not turn up (so I'm told),there was no cafe because "it's a sports centre" not a greasy spoon as was told by the sports centre receptionist,we are here to keep fit. Anyway the show seem to die off at 11 am on Sunday but talking to traders better venue, hopefully will be better next year but remember "NO CAFE"  T &Coffee stall in hall, but bring your own food.

Thanks to all who did come, especially those who patronized the bring & buy - this year I get to hand over £431.84 to the RNLI when I take the cheque down to Blackpool lifeboat station.

Me my wife and two teenage boys attended on the Saturday. We thought the venue was cleaner and brighter than the old Norbreck one. What we did miss was seating around the pool to maybe have a drink and watch the boats in the pool. The catering was a bit poor but luckily we only wanted a drink anyway. The admission fee was allso a bit weird, only £10 for two adults and two teenagers?  We did take a boat to run on the pool ( a PCF Swift type Vietnam US Army type boat ). I had been up till 3am on the morning of the show to get it finished and was very fed up with it running erratically at home on the dining room table >:-o , it kept cutting out and stopping. I had just re-greased the shaft and thought i may have overfilled it but took it anyway.  At the side of the pool it still ran very slowly but a kind man ( forgot his name ) i think from a model boat club came over and offered to help. He checked the size of the prop, turned the shaft by hand to make sure it wasn't binding and then suspected the 7.2v NIMH battery. He went away and got his voltage tester and discoverd it was only giving out 5.2v even though i had had it on charge all night.  The battery was quite old and we deduced it was a duff cell in it. Anyway, off to the Component shop stall, bought another battery and hey presto!!!!  the boat ran perfectly and very fast.  Many thanks to the guy who helped us, at the time i was really fed up and my two boys were very dis heartend to say the least. Anyway. i agree, not many people were using the pool which i thought was a shame. I allso bought later on a voltage tester for only £3.50 from the component shop ( won't be caught out again!) and various other bits and tools from the traders at the show.  Would i go next year, definitely, but then again i am local and don't have to travel far. This is not negative criticism of the show as i can't imagine how difficult it is to organise, but anyway, a good day out was had by all and thanks to the many friendly and helpful people i met on the day,  regards, Dave and family.

I am hoping someone took some pictures  <*< <*<

As for food, Unless I know that there is definitely food available I always take my own, and I am sure no mention of catering was made.

Right then lets answer some of the critics from the Organisers perspective

I will start with the Chairs.......we were promised 250 to be del on the friday by Blackpool council ....we ONLY got 50

Pool location...right then we were not allowed to have it in the main sports hall unless we could insure the floor area for over 5K...and also ins from slips and falls with water spillage.....this is WHY it was located where it was.......regarding seating around the pool I have already answered this

Lack of Café...MMMM this was a bit of a shock for Us as we were promised catering....sandwiches and tea coffe Day before the show we were told sorry they cant do it as they DONT WORK WEEKENDS...that is FACT.........imagine what we said.......as it is Blackpool with many eateries within a short distance we were not unduly worried...There was a café on site 5 mins walk away form the sport centre and THIS was pointed out on the sheet everyone was handed out ...it was all in there.....Mark decided to make the best of a poor situation and went out and got some tea/coffe/crisps and choccy which was manned by David and Elaine...THANKS A LOT.

Lack of Traders....well 3 of the traders who were book in simply COULD NOT ATTEND due to sickness. Not  a lot the organisers can do about that...

4 clubs who booked in for some reason simply did not turn up.

Both of the above would have simply filled the hall up...So no wonder it was bare int eh hall...Yes Modeling timbers is retiring from the shows................ODD thing is after the show we have had 2 new traders wanting to attend next year as they had been on a fact finding mission

Another BOMBSHELL if you want to call it that in the letter you all received was that Mark...A MODEL WORLD is Emigrating to Australia simply for the benefit of his family and personally I don't blame him and I wish him my Personal best wishes.........

AS a member pointed out what is going to happen to the shows....THEY WILL GO ON fear not on that score....Mark will be coming back to run them and I will be handling most things this end....COALVILLE AND BLACKPOOL WILL GO ON.

On a personal note May I take this opportunity to THANK all the Blackpool Model Boat club without their STERLING work Before and on the show days this show would simply flounder.

One thing that must be pointed out is that they raised £431 pound for the RNLI a darned good effort.

Right then what happened to ME at the show.....well on friday I woke up with a pain in my side...thought nothing of it and came to the show.....worked till 3pm and simply had to go to the hotel as I was in sheer agony...this carried on all night....so not much sleep !!!!!!...Greta sat morning NO pain wey hey off I went to the show....around 3pm I couldn't stand the pain anymore and had to go to the hospital where they admitted me within 20 mins.......with and we still don't know yet whether I have a strangulated hernia or a twisted gut......YES I was discharged on Sunday morning(think they had enough of my snoring) and YES I did turn up at the show ...only to be TOLD by not only Mark but ALL the traders and Most of my friends who were at the show to flipping well GO HOME...charming you lot haha

MY PERSONAL THANKS to ALL the traders who have already been in contact and my friends for their concern on my wellbeing ...IT MEANS A LOT TO ME very touching...and all the OFFERS of assistance.

Last but by n means least........Davenotdone....MMM it seems you were THE ONE...yes YOU....Lindsey did mention she had dropped a clanger on the door with one family and Charged them £10 Instead of £12 so you OWE us £2 ha ha.......

I have to agree that the organisers have picked a much better venue than the Norbreck, very  bright and airy and after speaking with a number of traders and clubs, they are in total agreement, so very well done to the organisers.
I, along with a number of others have travelled to the Blackpool show for many, many years from North of the border, we attend most of the shows held throughout the year, but I`m afraid I, personally, can no longer justify the 500+mile round trip to attend. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the organisers, who do a great job, its just that the show is becoming smaller and smaller every year! There were definitely less clubs and traders attending this year, noticeable, as soon as you entered the hall, so I`m afraid this was the last Blackpool show for me.
I would however, like to wish the organisers every success and hopefully, this venue will attract more clubs and traders in the future.

P.s Glad you all got home safely Dave, look after yourself matey and will hopefully see you and your ever growing family again at Wikie :-))

To be honest I wasn't bothered about the Warbreck venue , it was what it was, I usually came away happy with what I wanted . . .
The shrinkage of shows (any shows) has got to be due to the internet ? and you cant blame the traders, no hauling stuff / accommodation / booking / etc , just get a website & display your wares & wait . . .
Whatever, I've shot a few pics of interest to me , with today's digital camera's I tend to do short movies these days & only a few stills . . . .
With the announcement of Cammell Laird's being in the frame as 'preferred supplier' for the new polar exploration vessel I spotted this on Mobile Marine Models stand . . .

the new vessel will have the X bow configuration , & this's the first model I've seen with this shape. . .

Dont know if you get plans for this price . . . .

An unusual hull shape all the same , bet it's a S O B to cast with all the undercuts , split mould?

For all you ROCKET SCIENTIST'S a BUILD IT YOURSELF 3D printer . . . .

Outside my brain-scale.

A selection of test pieces . . . .

Wonder how long it takes in operation?

Model of a Flower class with a sad tale . . . .

The real ship never even got commissioned , lost on trials from the shipyard , R I P guy's. . .

Would it not be better to start a new thread instead of advertising another show on the Blackpool show site..

Fair comment, My apologies Baloo  :-) , However it might have helped if he had quoted in his reply the comment he was replying to  as a  number of posts since the comment Baloo was referring to had been made.

The 3D printer was quite an impressive piece of kit for the price -£298, going by the examples on show. The definition was on all the examples was really very good and the best I've seen, but no doubt there are limitations. Apparently most of the smaller items took around 15 minutes to build up.

I've refrained from making comments of any sort this time simply 'cos I can't be bothered but, at least it was warmer and better lit.
